    Stages of Learning

In the Beginner stage of a student’s mathematical education, there will be a significant focus on acquiring skills in Arithmetic and Geometry. It is crucial to develop the capacity to mentally visualize geometric shapes and carry out rapid calculations, these abilities will lay the foundation for more advanced concepts in the future.

After mastering arithmetic and basic geometry, students delve into algebra, learning functions, graphing, and statistical interpretation. They also tackle advanced geometry, working with 3D objects and expressing geometric ideas algebraically. These skills provide a strong foundation for further mathematical exploration and application in various fields.

At this stage, students with a solid mathematical foundation study the basics of linear algebra, calculus, statistics, and probability. They aim to master concepts in number theory, functions, trigonometry, basic calculus, and other related topics, paving the way for further advanced mathematical learning.

At this stage, students can pursue specialization in specific areas of mathematics at the university level. Through an interview process, the instructor will create a personalized learning plan to cater to the individual needs of the student. This approach ensures focused instruction and support for the student’s success in their chosen mathematical pursuits.

    Our Approach

    FAQs

All of our teachers are carefully selected based on their passion for teaching and knowledge of mathematics. Selected teachers receive additional training to ensure they are teaching following our specific methodology and curriculum.

Our class length varies depending on a child’s age. Children enrolled in Lower Elementary classes have one session per week, with each session being 1hour and 15min. All other classes take place once a week and are 1.5 hours in duration. Math is part of children’s everyday lives. Taking advantage of each of these math moments develops math knowledge. Each math moment is like a charging station that helps children become ready for more math learning. Children are perfectly capable of keeping their focus for this period.

The homework fulfills dual functions – firstly, they are designed to reinforce newly learned concepts and ideas while they are “fresh” in the student’s mind. If we can use a metaphor – homework makes the small pathway learned during class a well-built highway where ideas and concepts move very fast. Homework reaffirms the acquired knowledge and makes it long-lasting. The second purpose of homework is to provide the feedback teachers need to identify a concept that might not be fully understood and address it during the next class before moving to any new topics. Mathematics Knowledge is like a skyscraper – you cannot continue building higher if you don’t have a strong foundation or skip a floor.

Our teachers assign just enough homework required to reaffirm the concepts explored in class. If your child spends between one to one hour and a half per week on homework, they should progress quite well. For concept reinforcement, it is important that homework is completed in several shorter sessions throughout the week, rather than one long session. Please inform us if it takes your child longer to complete their task. It may be an indication that they might be struggling with a concept.

Mathematics is not something anyone can learn overnight. It takes time to build a sound knowledge base and understanding of concepts. We recommend that you enroll children in our math program at the age of 5. Studies have shown that a child’s math knowledge at the start of Kindergarten predicts later academic achievement better than early reading or attention skills.
